Q. What is Longwood United?

Longwood United is Longwood University’s year-round crowdfunding platform. Starting in October of 2022, Longwood United is about Lancers coming together from around the world to make an impact on specific fundraising initiatives. As we always say, every gift, no matter the size, makes a huge difference on the University’s cultivation of citizen leaders.

Q. Who can participate?

Anyone and everyone! Whether you are an alumni, student, parent, friend, faculty or staff member, or a friend of a friend, we would love to have your support. As long as there is a live campaign currently accepting support, you can make a gift on this site. Not sure where to locate campaigns? Check the homepage first!

Q. Why should I give to Longwood?

Gifts of all sizes provide the critical support that Longwood needs to further enhance the student experience, provide our faculty and staff with the tools they need to succeed, and so much more. To make a gift means that you share in our common mission, and that you love and believe in Longwood’s everyday work. Because of support from folks like you, we are able to preserve our rich history while also creating a future that benefits us all.

Q. Is my gift tax deductible?

Once you make a gift, you will receive an email acknowledgement along with a tax receipt. If you have any questions about the tax deductibility of your gift, please consult with your tax professional or accountant. 

Q. What area of campus can I make my gift to?

You can make a gift to any active campaign currently accepting support on this site. Don't see an initiative you want to support? We want you to make a gift to the area you're passionate about, and hope you'll consider making a gift to the area you love most by visiting give.longwood.edu, where you can make a gift any day of the year.

Q. Is there a minimum gift?

Yes, we have a minimum gift of $5.00 because believe it or not, it takes a lot of time and resources to process gifts. Our Advancement Services team is hard at work for days (and sometimes weeks) after each campaign to ensure all of the gifts we receive are properly recorded and acknowledged.

Q. Can I make my gift recurring or in honor or memory of someone?

We do not allow supporters to make recurring gifts or gifts in memory or honor of someone on GiveGab. However, if you would like to sign up for recurring or monthly giving, or would like to designate your gift in someone’s honor, please contact our office at (434) 395-2028 and we would be happy to help you!

Q. Is there a way that I can have a bigger impact in addition to making a gift?

YES! Making a gift is the quickest and easiest way to have an impact on current and future Lancers, but we also acknowledge and understand that not everyone may have the means to give. If you have social media, feel free to share URL links to campaigns you're passionate about, share your story on social media, or reach out to some individuals in your network and encourage them to give. Spreading the word goes a long way!

Q. Can I make a gift on my mobile device?

Yes! Simply visit united.longwood.edu on your mobile device browser of choice!

Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is the secure giving platform that Longwood University is using to facilitate raising money, engaging donors, and managing volunteers before, during, and after each Longwood United campaign. Donations are received and receipted by GiveGab.
